Bailout Update: Blind Faith and No Questions Asked

The New York Times talked about A Bailout Above the Law. Bush is pushing Congress to pass the Bill and authorize the bailout without making any changes. Except the originally proposed Bill was a ridiculous pile of crap that just threw money at Wall Street and explicitly exonerated the Government from any misdeeds or even scrutiny in the process!

“The Secretary is authorized to take such actions as the Secretary deems necessary to carry out the authorities in this act,” the proposed bill read when it was first presented to Congress, “without regard to any other provision of law regarding public contracts.”

“Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency,” the original draft of the proposed bill says.

Not only is the Treasury Secretary allowed to do whatever he wants with between $700 Billion and $1 Trillion, but you aren't allowed to question him or even review his decisions! He has complete frakking immunity to do anything he wants if this piece of crap is passed.

It's currently being sent back and revised. This better get changed before it passes.
