We need more ex-presidents who led us into three TRILLION dollars of debt to die...

To the Campus Community:

As many of you may know, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has issued a proclamation declaring Friday, June 11, as a day of remembrance for former President Ronald Reagan and closing state offices that day. This follows an executive order issued by President George W. Bush closing many federal offices as a mark of respect for the late president. In response to the governor's proclamation, Chancellor Charles B. Reed has authorized the presidents of the California State University to provide informal time off for employees to observe this day.

In recognition of these actions, I am announcing that California State University, Northridge will close and classes will be cancelled on June 11 to facilitate this informal time off for employees. There will be many events and activities on this day to honor the work and achievements of President Reagan. This time will be an opportunity for people to remember him in a manner of their choosing.

A formal memorandum from Stephen Montgomery, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, will follow shortly with more details about the campus closure and the granting of informal time off. Because we are in summer session, I ask all colleges and university departments to make appropriate arrangements to inform students about this action, and to ensure that signage, voicemail recordings and other appropriate announcements are in place on June 11 to inform the community and public about the campus closure.

Jolene Koester
President
California State University, Northridge
