Campus has become a giant movie set. According to a news flyer we get Disney's 'Sky High' to Shoot at Northridge over in the main quad in front of the library.

So far they have been building a pair of massive façades on the east and west sides of the quad. These things hide sets of tall palm trees, but have been made to look like the main library's frontage, architecturally speaking.

On Friday I brought my camera to campus and snapped a few shots of the project. It's interesting to watch this temporary transition and see how fake it all is. I'm sure it will look fine on film. Might be fun to watch the filming too, but probably not. Lots of people stand around not doing much is usually the case.

A corner of the façade that hides the palm trees and forms one side of the new Sky High quad.

Here are some of the "granite" carved blocks that will adorn the same wall, facing the quad. They're really just wood, or maybe even foam.

The carved blocks have already been hung on the west wall, shown here. Behind the wall is another stand of palm trees.

Today they hung some huge banners up along the front of the library. They say "Freedom," "Strength," "Power," and "Knowledge," which apparently reflect Sky High's motto. Also recently attached to the front of the library is a large "metal" plaque with the same words: Freedom, Strength, Power, Wisdom.

Ooops.... did you notice the plaque differs from the banners in one place... looks like the continuity staff have already made a goof!
