Some folks put together a Scottish Festival in a campground near Ithaca this weekend, so we decided to check it out.

Five pipe-and-drum bands participated against one another, so we had some good music while there. Each band had about seven pipes, one big bass drum, about about five snare drums, plus a drum major. Thus, when they all took the field at once, there were quite a few people going around.

Overall the show did not impress: on the small side. Only about two tents for vendors of things Celtic and just a couple more for food. They had some Scottish and Irish dancing displays, and a number of traditional athletic events. Also, a woman demonstrated sheep dog herding, and there was a group shearing sheep and spinning to show the wool-to-kilt process.

Worth attending, would consider going again next year, if we can confirm there's enough to hold our interest longer.

Kelley liked the pipes and drums!
