"In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." Kahlil Gibran

the julips flow.....

Its that time of year already...Kentucky Derby Day! The mint julips flow like water in a trout stream! The ladies are decked out in their finest...hats claim the spotlight!

I've never been to the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, but I have been to Churchill Downs for other horse races.
I love to watch those magnificent animals do their stuff. But on Derby Day I like watching it from the comfort of my living room.

I suppose that's very Un-Kentuckian...kinda like somebody who doesn't like hot dogs is Un-American. But I find it distressing to be in crowds that large...people stepping all over each other..and fighting the traffic to go home when the race is over....just not my cuppa tea.

I made my usual imaginary bet this year, as I usually do...and of course my pick came in last...as it usually does. I choose my horse rather randomly so I guess I shouldn't expect my choice to be wearing a blanket of roses.. I kinda go with the color of the silks, or the length of the horse's tail, the name of the horse or some other silly criteria. Not very scientific eh? Oh well...it's just imaginary money.
