Make 'em Laugh

OK. So, maybe I am using song titles for each entry's Subject. But I'm not committing to it. Just know that.

Saturday night we had a nice, big audience. There was one lady who laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. Mostly at appropriate parts. She got the rest of the room laughing (except when they were not supposed to), including me when I was offstage. I was sitting at my dressing table during "Adoption Interrogation" and laughing at the lady laughing at what's on stage. I was having a good time because she was.

Maybe that's why some actors think that their show is better when an audience is laughing. Because the actor is enjoying himself more.

I believe in professional audience goers. People who are hired to laugh appropriately whether or not anyone else in the room is. It's not cheating; it's just helping everyone have a better time. Some people won't respond openly unless someone else is. You get some guy in there haw-hawing it up and pretty soon you got the whole crowd having a great time. Now, if the show's not good, it won't work. The rest of the audience will wonder what that person thinks is so hilarious and only be confused. If the show's good, no questions.

In fact, I may just hire one of those people to follow me around, laughing, cheering, sighing whenever appropriate. Well, I sort of have one now, but Sam's at work during the day.
