When I was in high school, I wrote the stupidest poetry, all dark and unloved and hopeless and despairing. Why do I bring this up now? My astronomy lab yesterday afternoon made me feel dark and unloved and hopeless and despairing. Blah. They didn't listen to me, were confrontational over the simplest math, and asked for help before trying anything themselves (a MAJOR pet peeve o'mine). As always, most of the students are good, but the math preparation of this one particular section is, well, non-existant. Blah. Blah. Blah.

And I'm happy that I'll be starting to discuss Pluto tomorrow, because if I have to hear one more "Uranus" joke, I'm gonna explode and the shrapnel will hit the students, especially one cluster of boys in the back of the class. Blah.

Still, it is better than last semester, which was characterized by students who just wanted their C's, but only wanted to expend D effort. This semester is dominated by B students who think they're A students. The attitude is positive in class, but some might be surprised when they receive their final grades. Which will be soon...only 3 weeks of classes left, then finals week. Blah. No matter how much they annoy me, I still miss them in the end. Blah.
