a brief snapshot of mundane, boring stuff

The kids have spent most of the day playing outside. They've had a marvelous time.

I've spent most of the day indoors researching what I can do about my back. (It got messed up last night while I was trying to put my office together. And I was being so careful, too...) This research isn't new -- I'm just trying to get some details down.

Some of our neighbors brought us "Welcome to the neighborhood" brownies and bars. Terribly sweet of them, and the kids have dug them, especially with lots of milk.

I sung Weezer to get LD down for his afternoon nap. What did you expect? "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"? (Okay, so that happens, too. But some days a girl just needs her Weezer. Um, old Weezer, i.e. songs about Buddy Holly and sweaters and garages and such things.)

I'm about to take Avadore out of the bath and we're going to make strawberry banana smoothies, his request. At least I knoew where the blender is.

Tonight we're having dinner with Rice's family. His crazy great aunt is in town, so this should be interesting. We're going to Sizzler, where everyone can get what they want. (There's a story behind this, but that's for another time.) Not that there's not a lot of cool, interesting places in this town to take a visiter from Oakland, CA, but you know, it's important that everyone can get what they want. And, I suspect, Sizzler is my MIL's favorite restaurant. *

Rice came home for lunch. It totally rocks that he can come home for lunch. While he was here he, um, got me my personal access to the SCI FICTION archives. This would be one of the many reasons why we have a server. (Thanks to Jason for the heads up!)

Now for smoothies, naps, and more back research. I want to be able to live like a semi-normal person, for crying out loud. Oh, and laundry. Always the eternal laundry.

And Rice and I been watching House, M.D., which I am totally enjoying. House reminds me of Sherlock in many ways, and we all know how I love my Sherlock. (House ... Holmes... now that's interesting... Lots of similarities... Hrm...)

And no, I haven't really gotten any new writing or editing or rewriting done in a long time and it's driving me nuts. I just need to put a routine together and get back on that and so many other things I tend to do that have been thrown out of whack over the past months.

But now, smoothies.

*Personally, I want a grilled portabella mushroom sandwich with gorgonzola and a lovely balsalmic vinegar dressing over a nice baby green salad. What do you mean Sizzler doesn't have that? I thought I could get what I want...
