Well. I spent last night at Louise's, which was very relaxing and a Good Thing overall. I think I'm going to enjoy my Mondays there; it'll give me a big chunk of time in the evening to prepare for the coming week, and then be better able to spend my time at home thinking about other things than work. It was also nice to be in a home instead of a motel room or something; that'll feel pretty good, too. And of course, it was wonderful to see William. He did his Happy Dance when he saw me, and he enjoyed the short walk we got to take (to the local elementary school, where I was able to let him off the leash for a bit). So, the Pet part of the subject line is doing just fine.

As for the pool: They no longer have a pool at the downtown Y (where I used to be a lifeguard!), but the pool at This Community College is slated to open on Thursday, so that'll be something. I can only get there two days a week at best, so we'll see if that actually transpires or not. But there's one available, at any rate.

And the phone: Still no phone. This is not an entirely bad thing; it meant that I had to go to the Center for Teaching Excellence today to see if I could reserve digital cameras for one of my classes for a day. Initially I had been told yes, then no. When I actually went over and explained what I wanted to do, they were very nice about it and extremely accommodating. So I ended up with a "yes" after all.

I've really been enjoying meeting people and talking to them. Everyone here is really friendly! It feels like a very welcoming place.

Still feels a bit like I've landed on the moon, in some odd way. It's definitely not the same kind of place I came from (most noticeable at the moment by the quality of the catered food - yuck! Another bad luncheon today), but I think ultimately I will like it better. And I'm sure once the commute wears in on me, I won't feel quite like I've scattered my life across the entire state. At the moment, home feels very far away. Once I've gone back and forth a few times, that feeling should dissipate, I hope . . .

Well, I better go try to finish my course calendar for the course that meets on Thursday; I have a 1:30 meeting to learn to use the Computers on Wheels (a cart equipped with laptops that I'm going to reserve As Much As I Can for my non-computer-classroom classes . . . )

I'm feeling pretty lonely so if anyone felt like sending mail, that'd be great!
