Well, the drive in to work today was spectacularly gorgeous, again . . . frosty trees surrounded by bright blue sky, and set off by snow in the fields . . .

The sky definitely says "February." I think February skies are my favorites; today we've got a color slightly darker than robin's egg, with white, high clouds that just look for all the world like they blew in from someplace warm. The sky today says "summer," even if the ground is frozen and the trees are white. Russ claims that spring comes under the snow, but I say spring comes from the sky. The first intimation I get that the seasons will change comes from the quality of the light in February; you can tell that the sun's angle has changed because the shadows aren't so stark and angular, and the light just seems softer (even if it's not appreciably warmer). February sunsets seem to last forever after the curtain-fall sunsets of December and January. You get those ragged scraps of fucsia clouds, too, and the horizon going all periwinkle, then lavender, then purple . . .

I had a nice 'spin' on the exercise bike this morning before I came to work. I have to get serious, both about training and fundraising, if I really intend to do the Team in Training stuff . . . and the exercise bike ride this morning reminded me about why I want to do that - there's nothing that makes me feel better than biking, even in the basement, even in the morning . . .

It's looking to be a good day. Hope all's well where you are, too.
