My New York Times email digest came with the following headline today:

"Today's Headlines: U.S. Is Examining Plan to Bolster Detainee Rights"

Which just struck me as positively ludicrous. Like, what exactly are we "considering?" In the future, we're only going to violate half as many statutes of the Geneva Convention, or something??

The gulf between rhetoric and reality these days is just laughably gaping sometimes . . .
