I talked to my brother tonight, who reminded me that our address really had been 1641 Chestnut Street, not 1634, as I previously reported. 1634, he informed me, had been the number of his Cub Scout pack, and later his boy scout troop(s). Wow. I knew that at that age, I wanted to be a boy scout more than anything - but I had no idea that that number was still rattling around in my brain . . .

And then, of course, there's the confusion with the "1432 Franklin Park Circle Hero," a popular song from a slighltly later time (mid-60s), whose chorus goes like this:

He's the 1432 Franklin Park Circle hero.
You can see him every weekend with a car full of kids and sno-cones.
The people downtown don't know his name,
but on Franklin Park Circle he's king,
he's the 1432 Franklin Park Circle hero.

As a ten-year-old, I loved that song . . . just exactly what I thought a dad should be (and what my dad generally was).
