Well, for reasons I cannot fathom, I've spent the day setting myself up to podcast . . . I've figured out what I need to do to record MP3s (turns out I already had software & hardware to do this, just lying around the house), and I've downloaded iPodder and subscribed to a couple of podcasts. (Alas, the shows I really want - the folk music played on WKAR on Sunday nights, for example - is not readily available. But lots of things are available, and more is out there all the time, I'm told.) At the moment, my MP3 player will only hold 64 MB of stuff, but I've got a SmartMedia card coming, which will bump up its capacity to 192 MB. (I am trying not to develop a full-blown case of Shuffle Lust - but that might already be a lost cause . . . A gigabyte of storage sounds perfect; anything larger and everything would start to get lost or cluttered, I'm sure . . . )

My initial interest in this technology is to record lectures for my online Bizcomm class. I'm not sure whether this will really be useful or not, but I'm willing to give it a try. It sounds like it could be fun!

And of course, in my scattered, dilettante, willy-nilly way, I've spent the entire day on this detour, and have not [a] written a single quiz for that Bizcomm class, or [b] continued work on the article that sent me into paroxysms of frustration yesterday, or [c] moved off this silly couch to ride my bike or go swimming or running or otherwise move my body through space or [d] practiced the guitar . . . But if I hadn't done this today, I would never have found the time until next summer, I'm sure.

I'm going to go wander around the back yard and listen to the bluegrass show I downloaded . . . (can it really be an hour long?)
