Well, Emil has an interview later this week . . . and some other prospects to apply for as well, so perhaps things will go okay, here. Change is difficult when you don't choose it - heck, it's difficult when you do choose it, as I know from my recent job change. But maybe everything will work out so this is relatively painless. Cross your fingers for us!

It's a cold, gray-and-white day here. I went up to Buhr to skate at noon, and discovered that they've discontinued the noon skate. I'm not surprised, since only a handful of people ever showed up for it - but then again, that's why I liked it! I suppose I could have gone to Yost, but at $5 a pop, that seems a bit extravagant this week.

This afternoon we went up to the mall to get a few Christmas items, and now I'm tucked in, getting ready to grade. Things are proceeding apace in that department; I think I'll be able to finish everything without causing myself undue hardship or too-late nights. Of course, my half-knitted sweater is sitting on the table, beckoning me . . . must resist, must resist! But it looks so wonderfully wintry out the sunroom windows, and there's nothing better on a wintry afternoon than to knit . . . I'm starting to feel myself unravel and unwind from the semester; even housework is beckoning me, and I want to start baking Christmas cookies . . . I'm even having fantasies about picking up the guitar again.

But I better get some work done first . . .
