Well, I'm making progress on the foot front. I saw the doctor on Friday, and she was still pleased with the toe's alignment, to my great relief. (I had had a painful run-in with the refrigerator a few days earlier, and had been worried that I'd knocked the bones out of kilter . . . not so, thank heavens.) She said I could do whatever it would let me do.

So today I repaired the flat rear tire on my mountain bike, and took a little spin around the neighborhood - I managed about three glorious blocks in the perfect spring weather. Everything felt fine while I was riding, but about ten minutes after I got off the bike, my toe started to feel the way a tooth that's been drilled feels right after the novocaine wears off . . . It'll be a while before I try that again, I think.

All in all, though, I'm pleased that it's feeling better so quickly. I'll certainly be able to drive in Phoenix, and I've figured out how to swim, too . . . I'm also getting pretty good at walking in the Klunky Shoe, so I'm feeling pretty mobile all the way around.

So life is good around here. I'm looking forward to the wedding, and forward just a little further to the end of the semester (and then to visitors from Across the Pond) . . . the summer "season" is starting off very well.

I hope everyone is having a rejuvenating spring - or a mild autumn, as the hemisphere may be . . .
