Well, as promised, here are a few pictures of the house, taken on Monday. First we have the living room, with the chairs set up to simulate loveseats:

And Emil and Emma in the (diminutive) kitchen:

(Why, yes, she is sticking her tongue out at me.)

And finally, my study. It's a very small room, but you can see from the grain of the floor how the two pictures are supposed to align. The window on the left looks out at the deck, and the one on the right gets a view of the right side of the yard (including the shed). The window on the right probably is just out of view in the shot taken on the left (if that makes any sense).

Today Emil went back up to Lansing and worked on the floors in the two "spare" bedrooms - we took up the carpet on Monday and now he's taking up the carpet tacks, washing the floors, and putting down polyurethane. I couldn't accompany him because I spent the day waiting for the locksmith, who never arrived . . . so tomorrow I get to stay here again while he goes and works on the floors. I'll be supervising a gang of teenagers who will be packing our stuff, at least, so something will be happening on the moving front.

To make up for not doing much all day (I could have been packing, I suppose - but actually, I was reading novels), Emma and I went out to Ikea tonight and bought a table (Bjursta, brown-black) and four chairs (Roger, also brown-black). (I really like them, but gosh, as I look at that living room picture I'm worried that the table will be too big for the space.) We had much fun trying every table and chair combination in the store . . . I really wanted to get a new mattress and bed frame, too, but we ran out of time before that could happen. Probably a good thing!
