Well, guess what? Emil has gotten a job. There would be much cheer and many exclamation points if the job were in Lansing . . . but it happens to be in Grand Rapids. So, instead of me having an hour-long commute, he does. Ah, well.

Of course, there's no ambivalence about the benefits of having money come in. We're just on the verge of desperation, here, what with the second mortgage payment kicking in on October 1st, so the timing here is really good news. And the job itself sounds really nifty, which is also good news. (It would be absolutely no fun to drive an hour for a bad job . . . ) And who knows? If it turns out to be wonderful, maybe I can find something in Grand Rapids, and we can move again! :) (I think I'd like living in Grand Rapids; the west side of the state is extremely pretty, and of course, there's all that yummy lake-effect snow because of the very very near proximity of Big Water . . . )

Not that I have wanderlust or anything. Certainly not with the Ann Arbor house still yet to sell . . . and it's not like there are any nifty jobs in that direction, anyhow, or like I'm unhappy in mine - much to the contrary. But I can't help but think I'd like living in Grand Rapids . . . who knows what the future holds? Once the kids grow up, all bets are off . . .
