Today qualifies as our first Sunday in the new house, if you ask me, because today, for the first time, we had the entire bacon, eggs and newspapers routine. In other words, this is the first weekend where [a] we've both been here on Sunday, [b] we've known where to get the papers, and [c] we've had bacon in the house. (We have a particular brand. Bacon has become a bit of a magilla.) So it almost feels routine . . .

Here's how the table looked after breakfast:

The lights are on because it was raining yet again this morning . . .

The back yard is looking nice, too. Here's a picture of my mother's cauldron, as Emil likes to call it :).

Yes, indeed, those wisps of yellow in the background are broccoli flowers . . . They've really gotten quite stunning. The bees around here absolutely love them. On sunny days I can't get near the plants.

Emil's computer room is taking shape. Here you can see why we feel like we're overrun with pets:

And my room is coming along nicely. Here's the view into it from the bedroom:

Here's the couch, featuring the brand-new pillows:

Here's the desk:

And here's a mashup, as they say:

All in all, it's coming along. The spare bedroom is still pretty much just a staging area for boxes as they come into the house, but that does keep the chaos down elsewhere. The egress window is installed in the basement and the glass block windows are in, but now the sills need to be drywalled . . . always something, I guess.

Well, I'd better get back to work. I'm sitting at the dining room table, listening to jazz and world fusion on WLNZ (LCC's public radio station! How cool is that??) and figuring out what my online students need to do next week . . . all in all, it's proving to be a very pleasant day indeed.
