I started this on Saturday, and meant to return to it:

=================================
Well, today was a perfect day. I got up at a leisurely 9:00, went skiing for about an hour around 10:30 at Fenner Nature Center (lotsa trees but rather flat), went and bought a few knitting notions at a store on the way home (not my regular yarn store), and was back home easily by noon. I don't think I put 10 miles on the car.

I find those short distances incredibly relaxing. Besides not having to deal with traffic very much (or very much traffic), it's a huge time-saver. The time I don't spend in the car I get to spend knitting, learning German, and exercising. What a marvelous tradeoff . . .

This is what I had hoped would happen when we moved. Today, finally, I got a taste of the life I was hoping I'd have.
=================================

. . . but I never did find the time, and now I see that I pretty much said it, anyhow.

On another bright note, Emma said half-seriously to me tonight, "I'm starting to like Lansing and I don't want to." So things are looking up around here . . .
