Well, yesterday was a very enjoyable day. My friend (and colleague) Dedria and I went down to The Deuce to see the Metropolitan Opera HD simulcast of Manon Lescaut, which was wa-aay fun. We picked up Diane along the way, and I got to say hi to Jim, whom I haven't seen in a while.

Then afterwards we picked up Dedria's daughter and went out to Leopold's, a brewpub that also distills hard liquor. (But not for long; they're losing their lease and moving to Denver in a few months.) We had a pleasant dinner there (I got the Pesto Manifesto pizza. Yum, yum), then toodled back to Lansing fairly early, as I had work yet to do.

Today I've been knitting on Emil's scarf. I've decided to knit him something that's fast, because he's been waiting forever for his sweaters . . . Threadbear is having a huge sale on Garnstudio yarns, so I got some alpaca and am working on this scarf:

A very satisfying knit.

And any 48-hour period that includes cross-country skiing, knitting and opera makes me very happy indeed.
