OK, so EB thinks this blog has become too knitting-heavy. Well, here's something that doesn't have to do with knitting. It has to do with my other great passion: Travel. I have just received word, so now it's official. This summer . . .

I am going to China.

Yep. I'll be spending a month at Harbin Institute of Technology teaching ESL. I don't have too many more details than that, except to say that they're covering the cost of travel and lodging, and paying us besides. How could I not be going?? I am also pleased to report that Harbin is in the north of China, near Upper Mongolia, and is known for its "anti-hot" vacations. (That was the only detail I really looked up about the place; I figured, if I was going to end up somewhere hot and humid this summer, I might just as well stay in Michigan . . . not really, but considering I've never liked ANY place I've visited if the temperature there was above 90 degrees - and this includes Madison, Wisconsin, btw, which is one of those Places that Everyone Likes - I figured a hot place would be far less enticing.) Now that I know I'm actually going, of course, I can begin to do research in earnest; there was no point in getting all excited before I knew for sure.

Well, that's all the news for today. I have to go pinch myself . . . oh, yeah, and get ready for class . . .
