Well, I have to say, Day One of the massive iron regimen is showing promise. The therapeutic dose for iron-deficiency anemia amounts to about 35 times the recommended daily allowance for a woman my age . . . so other than worrying that I might get pulled towards magnets, and that slightly metallic taste in my mouth, and having to take TWELVE pills a day (they don't come in higher increments, alas), it's all good.

I am happy to report that already, I feel better. I still took a nap before dinner, but I didn't feel completely wrung out after I was done teaching, and even at this advanced hour (8:49 pm), I still feel like the brain cells are functioning. I'm starting to get really excited to think that I might actually have energy again. Apparently anemia can sort of creep up on you; the body adapts to lower levels of iron until it just can't adapt any more. I don't know how long I've had this condition, but if I learned it had been over a year, I wouldn't be surprised.

Now if the Red Wings would get some pep, too, I would be a completely happy camper . . .
