... that Gardner left Asimov? (the magazine, of course)

It makes for an interesting litmus test to determine if a blogger is a science fiction fan/writer or not.

It also makes for a fun drinking game. Go through yesterday's journalscape entries and...
  • every time someone mentions Gardner, take a drink

  • every time they mention the end of an era, take a drink

  • take an extra drink if they also mention the editorial shuffle at Interzone or YBFH to emphasize this point

  • every time they mention how many stories they didn't sell to Gardner, take a drink

  • every time they mention how they look forward to reading more of his fiction, take a drink

Personally I'd just like to say that I thought Gardner did an excellent job at Asimov's (except for all those Coyote stories, jeez, there seemed to be one in every other issue lately). It does feel like the end of an era. I only read his story Fairy Tale so far, but I've heard so many good things about his writing, it'll be fun to read his stories in the new issues of the genre magazines (I wonder if he'll submit to Asimov's). Oh and I never sold him any stories because I never wrote any. Cheers!
