I did not watch one complete game this past baseball season, yet for some reason, I've been sucked into one of the most exciting post-seasons in baseball history. I've been following every single game as if my life depended on it. It's very reminiscent of the way I used to follow teams in my younger years. It's been fun, I'll admit that. But I am not the same type of game watcher as I was a long time ago. If a game gets close, I'd rather flip to another channel than to wait it out and see who wins. I'd rather come to the score after the fact, as opposed to watching a game with my stomach in my throat.

I think I may be the most hated man in Texas since I root for the New York Yankees. I have always been fascinated by the Yankees. If there is one constant in baseball, it's the New York Yankees. The New York Yankees have always been, and will always be THE franchise of major league baseball. For me to see the Yankees in the playoffs, it means that all is right with the world. It means that nothing is too far out of wack.

That, and I've always been fascinated with teams that always end up on top. The Lakers, the Celtics, the Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys etc. What does it say about my personality that I root for the Goliaths of the world. Screw the Davids, they're nothing but flashes in the pan. I want some stability. Unless the underdog happens to be a team that I'm rooting for ala, the Astros, the Rockets, the Texans.

Even though I jokingly rooted against the Chicago Cubs, I do feel genuinely bad for that team. Is there a curse on that team as has been reported? Well, until they win a World Series, the answer is yes. YES. The Cubbies are cursed. I won't get into the specifics since every sports website has been discussing the voodoo like qualities of black cats and billy goats all October.

Same thing goes for the Red Sox and the curse of the Bambino. I'm glad for the sake of humanity that the Red Sox aren't facing the Cubs in the World Series. That would have been TOO wack. The universe would have quit rotating. The sun would have set in the East. It would have been mass chaos. Dogs and cats would mate. I'd get all A's.

But that isn't the case. Hopefully, the Yankees pull it out and make it to the Series. All will be right in the Universe.

Amen.
