The one movie that I'm really looking forward to is, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." It's directed by Michel Gonrdy, with a script by Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondry.

I had no idea who Michel Gondry was until this past weekend when I got a dvd from my brother for my birthday called, "The Work of Director Michel Gondry." Michel Gondry is a French director who has made some of the most surreal and inventive videos that I've ever seen. His work with effects and camera technique is unparalelled. And to think that he's going to be teaming up with Charlie Kaufman, why it's almost too much to handle. :-)

Here's the description of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" taken from the imdb.

"Joel (Jim Carrey) is stunned to discover that his girlfriend Clementine (Kate Winslet) has had her memories of their tumultuous relationship erased. Out of desperation, he contracts the inventor of the process, Dr. Howard Mierzwaik (Tom Wilkinson), to have Clementine removed from his own memory. But as Joel's memories progressively disappear, he begins to rediscover their earlier passion. From deep within the recesses of his brain, Joel attempts to escape the procedure. As Dr. Mierzwiak and his crew (Kristen Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood) chase him through the maze of his memories, it's clear that Joel just can't get her out of his head."

So it's going to be this quirky comedy set from inside Jim Carrey's brain, with a Charlie Kaufman script??? You can't lose with that combination.

I've heard that Michel Gondry is going to use a combination of computer effects and camera tricks to pull off the "brainy" matter. Meaning that he'll do some cool stuff with the computer side of things, but he's also going to use depth of field and depth perception tricks to pull off some really neat imagery. It's going to be kinda like seeing "The Casa Magnetico" from Six Flags put on screen. Lots of slanted images to make it look further than it really is and the people to look bigger. Should at the very least be VERY trippy to look at.
