In case you haven't noticed, I've been on a bit of a poetry kick recently. Not quite sure why since I don't fancy myself a poet. What I'm hoping is that my poetry writing helps my prose writing a little bit.

I'm working on a poem right now that I hope to have ready for an open mic performance tonight. It's coming along very slowly since it's more or less a "slam poem." Slam poetry is almost like a form of hip-hop, so writing this type of poetry has me out of my element so to speak.

I'm not complaining though since I love stretching myself in creative ways. It helps keep me grounded in my creative adventure. ;-)
