What a monstrosity that show was tonight. I could go on and on about how much I dislike MTV now, but I think anyone that knows me knows this about me.

If watching Lil' John, Jay-Z, Fat Joe, and Ludacris makes me think of anything, it makes me glad that there are artists like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and the Beastie Boys out there. They prove that hip-hop can actually mean something positive, and that you don't have to have this tough macho-women hating-bling bling'in-assaultive image to make good music. I sometimes don't understand pop music. There is so much GREAT music out there, that I don't understand why people like 50-Cent and Eminem are the best-sellers that they are. Oh well. Maybe it's just a sign that I'm getting too old to watch the MTV Video Awards. But I think I've been too old for MTV since I turned...oh say about 15 years old.
