Joshua: A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

I posted a link yesterday to a game site that has "Tic Tac Toe" on it. Everytime I play that game I think of the movie "War Games" where a computer named Joshua learned the futility of nuclear warfare through the playing of....Tic Tac Toe???

Maybe it's a bit of a stretch.

Nevertheless, nearly everytime I play the computer at Tic Tac Toe it usually ends in a draw. But ever so often, I'll take a round. Or every so often the computer will take a round.

It's somewhat bizarre how when you play the computer in a game like that, simple strategies start manifesting themselves in my mind. And usually, the simplest of strategies will almost always adversely affect the outcome of my game.

Like if find myself taking my time, I'll nearly always get the match to a draw. But when I start trying to speed through a game, or start getting impatient with the game, I'll miss "something" that computer doesn't and the game ends in a loss for me.

But the interesting strategy is what happens when I start playing defensively and trying to block their moves, instead of going on the offensive and trying to win the game.

I don't know what the point of this thread is, so I'm stopping it here.

*sigh*

POINTLESS....kinda like Tic Tac Toe.
