I am SOOO ready for this election to just be over over over and over. For anyone who gets into politics as much as I do, election years are brutal. If I'm not watching debates, I'm reading about polls on the internet. If I'm not researching different issues, I'm having a discussion with someone on any array of political topics. How anyone can be "undecided" at this point is beyond me. I guess a lot of people are waiting for the debates to complete before they make up their mind. But still...GET ON THE BALL PEOPLE!

With that being said, I think that the Vice Presidential Debate was both really engaging and incredibly boring. Although glad that it didn't turn into a Cheney-Lieberman-esque love fest ala 2000, there were times when I found Edwards putting on the hat of the wimpy Democrat. There were so many moments where Cheney really looked more prepared than Edwards and more to the point. Cheney would make some point only to have Edwards go into this long, drawn out answer to a question asked previously in the debate.

Edwards did hold his own on a lot of questions and many times got the better of Cheney. I particularly liked the "I don't think the United States can handle four more years" bit. Edwards also got Cheney on the question of how Bush has failed to unite the country after promising to do so.

The first half of the debate was hard-friggin-core. I thought finally, a debate where people are actually engaging one another, where temperatures were raised, and where body blows were delivered. But the second half of the debate was moderately boring. Although blows were delivered by each candidate, no one delivered quite the knockout that both parties were hoping for. So I think the debate was a bit of a draw!
