I had a very interesting and fun weekend, as incredibly busy as it was...

Friday was a mad scramble between

-going to Lewisville to get a much needed (as in 4 months since the last one) haircut.
-making thousands of copies for the "Vagina Monologues" flyers that we passed out at the show.
-stopping by Target to get a certain Birthday girl some birthday presents. (Going to ship those today)
-taking merchandise, props, and flyers to the Auditorium BLDG for "The Vagina Monologues."
-Oh, and watching the show.

The show went off BEAUTIFULLY. I am always wonderfully suprised at how great each year's show is. Each year brings its own level of greatness to an already great show. It's a beautiful thing. No matter where I am and where I go in my life, I'm going to make it a promise to check out that show.

The cast this year was absolutely perfect. Everything from the chorus (which was the best 'Monologue' chorus I've ever seen) to the individual monologues, were performed extremely well.

The show made TONS of money. And because the University helped fund the show, 99% of all money we made is going directly to the charities (The Women of Iraq, The Polaris Project--which seeks to end sex trafficing sp?, RAWA, and the Parkland Rape Crisis Center). We had so much great merchandise that we all spent countless hours, in countless "stitch and bitch" sessions, that it was really neat to see it all go. In this case, capitalism was a VERY good thing. We'll have a definite money estimate sometime later today. I'll keep you posted.

It was also very emotional to watch the show. I was more involved in the behind the scenes stuff this year than I ever have been before. It was really neat to bond with the cast and crew members. It's kind of bittersweet to know that it's over. On one hand, it'll be good to have a *normal* life back, but on the other hand, it's hard to feel *totally* great knowing that I'll probably never see some of the people in the cast and crew again. Such is life. We have made a pledge that we're going to keep in touch over the next few months. We'd like to make the "stitch and bitch" sessions a once a month (or more) type of thing. We figure people can always use good merchandise, so why not supply the demand. (that's TWO high fives to capitalism in one post--somebody check my temperature).

But overall, it was an amazing experience. It was great helping everyone out, and doing my small part to help the show come off. The real applause and gratitude needs to go to the cast, crew, and production staff. They all did a fantastic job.

On Sunday, Anya and I met her family down in Dallas for this nice brunch at a restaurant called "The Mansion." More on this later.

We spent the rest of the day down at the West End, enjoying the nice Dallas Aquarium (sp?), and strolling through the shops. It was a gorgeous day outside. It was the perfect cap to a perfect weekend.
