"Grease" is on the television right now. I don't know, but that cast my be the most unconvincing teenagers ever put to film. I thought it odd that a movie about high schoolers would cast such an ancient cast. Well, ancient in the context that this is a movie about high school. I checked IMDB, and sure enough, there probably isn't an 18 year old in the entire cast. Stockard Channing was THIRTY-FIVE FREAKING YEARS OLD. John Travolta and Olivia Newton John's combined age was somewhere in AARP land.

I mean, one of these "high schoolers" is THIRTY-FIVE. The mean age of the cast is probably 30. What do other 35 year olds do with their life? They're not in high school. They're working as accountants and disgruntled teachers, while simultaneously trying for child number 3.445. Watching and hearing 35 year olds singing about "Summer Loving," instantaneously moves this movie from a classic in the musical genre, to the all-time best comedy genre.

Nevertheless, it's a great movie. The music is annoyingly catchy, and you can't beat that Danny Zucco with a stick. Oh why, oh why did Olivia Newton John follow with "Xanadu?" And you gotta love any movie that gives Frankie Avalon a role. It still has Stockard Channing's best performance, and that's taking both her "West-Wing" and Lifetime movie performances into consideration.

They only knew each other for 3 months tops that summer. How good of a love could high schoolers have over 3 months? High schoolers are about as committed to any one thing as Madonna is to religions.
