Due to critic and fan response, MTV and VH1 are rebroadcasting the Live8 performances, uncut and interview free. So it's pretty much 6 straight hours, commercial free of some of the greatest (and some not so much) music around. Can't wait to see Pink Floyd and Paul Mac, but I wonder if doing so is worth sitting through Mariah Carey and Rob Thomas.

You know, I think it's REALLY cheesy when bland musicians like Rob Thomas and Justin Timberlake surround themselves with a who's who of soul and R&B artists. I don't think soul comes through osmosis, jackasses. I don't know if it's racism or what, but I have RARELY heard a white musician pull off soul music effectively. Janis Joplin, definitely...Mariah Carey, yeah...Joss Stone, she's getting there...But Justin Timberlake? Rob Thomas? Hillary Duff? LAME!!!

Don't get me wrong, Justin Timberlake is a hell of a POP musician. But he has about as much soul as Richard Cheney.

Back to the concert! :-)
