If you can't beat 'em, confuse the living hell out of them.

Anya and I were driving on I-35 the other day. We passed under an overpass that people were standing on top of with a sign that read, "Save Marriage. Vote YES to the new marriage amendment bill." I was going to flip them off, but I didn't see the sign until it was too late.

Cut to a few days later. Anya and I were driving to the HEB to get some food. Along the way, she saw a bunch of yard signs that were identical to the ones we saw a few days prior. Only this time it read, "Save Marriage. Vote NO to the new marriage amendment bill." Anya pointed it out to me and I laughed.

What an ingenious idea. It's basically playing on people's political ignorance. I mean, there are times when I have to remind myself, "Okay, you're voting NO on this amendment." It can be confusing. I think the sign plays right into our hands. I think those who believe it should be voted against are going to remember to vote no. But I think that there are also a bunch of people who don't really keep up with things and want to vote yes, but will end up voting no. I guess we'll see in a couple weeks.
