I read a couple days ago that the gaming industry has started taking bets on a movie's performance of the box office. I read earlier that "Cars" is going to be one of the first movies that Vegas booking companies spotlight with it's betting pool. I think this is kind of sick, but I'm not really that surprised by this move. People like numbers and statistics. And more importantly, people like feeling the validation that comes with a movie they're interested in earning boat loads of money.

I'm not going to get involved in the betting side of this, but I've always been interested in the box office haul that movies take in.

But I've never been very good at it, so I don't do it.

But I would like to start doing movie and television predictions.

So with that, this post marks the start of my "Bold Predictions" posts, where I'll make some kind of bold prediction.

Today's prediction:

Without having even seen the movie, I predict that Garrison Keillor will win the Oscar this year for his screenplay to "The Prairie Home Companion." At the very least, it appears to be his to lose.

peace and love
