I can't say that I'm a huge fan of Peter Gabriel, though I do like almost all of the songs that I've heard of his. I even like this song. But I'm sick of hearing it every time I turn on my television or watch a movie trailer. The problem with artists selling songs like this to companies like Cingular is that the song becomes almost singularly (not intended, but clever) heard through the ears of a commercial. I'd be kind of pissed if I were a Peter Gabriel fan, to be honest with you. I don't want to think of roll-over minutes when I'm listening to an otherwise good song.

Cameron Crowe deserves a lot of the blame for bringing this song back out into the public consciousness in his trying too hard opus, "Vanilla Sky."

So I here by relegate this song to Peter Gabriel concerts and the occasional radio airplay, instead of the incessant 24 hours a day of Cingular commercial time and "The Shining" parodies that we have now.

peace and love
