Snow Day(s)!

*sigh*

So for those of you who don't know, the state of Texas is in a state of frigid weather. Yes, that's right, we're seeing temperatures in the *gasp* mid-twenties, complete with freezing rain, occasional snow flurry, and rooftops that look like they've been frosted by the Keebler people.

I have to wonder what my friends from the North think. I mean, they see temperatures where 25 degrees is the high and where 4 feet of snow is the norm. And here we are, barely an inch of anything on the ground and we're canceling schools and boarding ourselves in our apartments. I have to remind myself that this is due to a number of middling factors a) Texas drivers can’t drive in rain, let alone anything resembling ice b) we don’t have the road equipment to handle anything resembling ice and c) why *not* take an extra day (or two in this case) off.

Snow days are kind of weird. With this snow storm, you’d rather stay inside watching movies than to venture out and drive over Austin bridges in the hill country, but then again, come on, it’s just a little bit of ice we’re talking about people. I think there’s a little bit of that Protestant work ethic at play here, because I feel a little guilty for staying home and basically doing nothing…if watching the first season of “Six Feet Under” is “doing nothing.”

But yeah, I’m kind of ready to get back to work. We had MLK day off, which I’m certainly not complaining about, and this first snow day was pretty alright, but school/work is cancelled tomorrow!!! This is too much.

What makes it especially bad is that we don’t have any good munchies around the house. Life is rough! 
