It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, so I thought I’d take a moment to give everyone a quick update.

Anya and I started June with a visit from my oldest sister and her family from Virginia. It was a pretty short visit, but we made wonderful use of our time. They got in on a Tuesday night and we all made our way to Kerbey Lane for some Austin style eating. We washed it all down with some cake and other desserts at Austin Java.

We all decided to go to Schlitterbahn on Wednesday. I had gotten a little motion sick the last time I went to Schlitterbahn, so I was a little nervous about going back. It turns out that all was okay. Anya’s preggers so she can’t ride anything intense, so she got the full on McKibben experience of not riding anything that’s too intense. I was really surprised to see my niece C having such a good time on the rides. We rode this floating river ride that has the occasional drop and she came through with flying colors. She did have a mix of terror and excitement on some of the drops, but those looks quickly turned to looks of happiness as she realized she had just survived her first Schlitterbahn ride.

I’ve now been to Schlitterbahn with 6 of my nephews and nieces. How’d I get so lucky? I guess I’m just following the lead of my Uncle Ted and Uncle Kirk. Weird how that all works out.

I’ve written extensively about the Spurs victory so I don’t have much to add on that. Anya and I made it down to San Antonio for the victory rally in the Alamodome. I was surprised that nearly 45,000 people showed up to celebrate the victory.

The Spurs play all of their games at the AT&T Center and don’t use the Alamodome for anything outside of rallies. It’s amazing how quickly stadiums become outdated, especially if they aren’t designed well and aren’t kept up with. I remember being pretty impressed with the Alamodome. Now, it seems almost like a college arena or something.

Other than that, things just keep chugging along. I’m about to embark on a pretty intense writing experience. I’ll keep you all posted on it, but I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.
