My quick thoughts on some of the new Fall TV shows:

Kid Nation:

My sister will probably disown me for saying this, but I kinda like this show. I had read a lot of the pre-show buzz about Kid Nation, so I was expecting it to be "Lord of the Flies" in the New Mexico desert. But let me tell you, it's really not all that bad.

I think this may be one of the more honest shows about children that I've ever seen. I plan on writing more about this show in its own post, because I think that a show like this begs to be analyzed in numerous different ways, but I really thought it was a pretty good show.

Bionic Woman:

After one episode, I think they're going in the right direction. It seems like it's going to be a pretty entertaining and engaging show. I'm a big fan of producer David Eick, who also co-produces "Battlestar Galactica." "Bionic Woman" definitely has a "BSG" feel to it, both in content and acting.

By big gripe is that Katee Sackhoff, who plays a rogue "Bionic Woman," often outshines Jamie Somers, who plays the lead in the series. Maybe it's not fair to be too harsh on Jamie Somers, since you're basically pairing a rookie to Roger Clemens, but I think they should have cast Starbuck in the lead role. But I think Jamie Somers will get the hang of things.

The Office:

I liked the season premiere, but I kind of worry about how they're going to create "tension" on the show now that Jim and Pam are a couple. Part of the fun of the early years of the show was seeing their across-the-office yearning for one another.

I also worry that the show is falling into a "pre-made" model, where the writers and producers say, "Okay, now we need a crazy quote from Creed, followed by an inane quote from Michael, followed by a random quote from Dwight." I hope they're able to retain their freshness.

Heroes:

I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about this show really irks me. It's not that it's kinda boring...who would have thought that a show about heroes would be boring? They never DO anything. They sit around and mope all day.

The season 1 finale failed to blow me away and the second season seems to be more of the same. I'm going to continue watching...for now, but it better pick up sometime soon or else I may abandon it.

That's all for now, folks.
