Last night's LOST was a mixed bag for me. Instead of a full-on review:

The Good:

- Michael's car suicide scene was great. More Mama Cass. More weirdness.

The Bad:

- I don't like how the island is preventing him from committing suicide. In previous LOST episodes, I thought it was cool how these random acts would prevent someone from doing something. But I don't see how the island can prevent someone from dying if they run their car into an embankment at 100 miles an hour.

The Good:

- LOST finally cut some of the fat out of the show by offing Carl and presumably Danielle.

The Bad:

- I have mixed feelings on Danielle. I've only liked her in two episodes (her first episode with Sayid and the episode where she helps Claire escape). But other than that, I think she's one of the more corny elements of the show. I think she's still alive. Regardless, I felt her getting shot was anticlimactic.

The Good:

- Finding out what Michael's been up to post-island. Been having a rough go of it.

The Bad:

- Not finding out how he got from his speed boat to the mainland and seeing him confess to Walt.

The Good:

- The reappearance of Mr. Friendly aka Tom.

The Bad:

Where is this fitting in the overall timeline? I don't like how easily these people are getting on and off the island. The show's still great, but I'm to the point now where I vastly prefer the show when it was just a bunch of people trying to survive on some crazy island. I think the food drops were the worst thing that's happened to the show. The show's opened up so much that I think it's lost a little of it's creepiness. That's one of the problems with the flash-forward format. We still don't know WHY/HOW the island is special. So we know that they want to get off the island and how much their lives sucks post-island, but we don't have the middle ground. That's why I'm not too worried. Because I can kind of tell how the next two seasons are going to get into the how/why of the island being important.

The Good:

- The reappearance of Libby was kind of cool and it confirmed that the island is its own "free-agent" if you will. It has no allegiance to either Ben or Widmore.

The Bad:

- It was predictable. I don't really read spoiler sites too much, but I could see this coming from a mile away. Plus, her appearance lacked any kind of push to it. It was like, "oh, there she is."

The Good:

- It looks like the show is going to take an intensely dark turn after the break.

The Bad:

- There's a 4 weed break!!!!!!!!

So overall, a pretty decent episode, but definitely not a classic.

Words of advice:

Give us a Locke episode. Give us a Ben episode. Hell, give us a Jack episode. And when you do those episodes, TELL US SOMETHING! Last night's episode confirmed some things, but what did it really tell us?

I give this episode a B-

- Matt
