From my mom's journal, who got it from the back of Vanity Fair.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

When he hears the jingle of my keys as I come into the house, Isaiah drops whatever he is doing and comes thumping along on his stubby feet, half crying and half laughing his name for me, which is “Daa.” I pick him up, he wraps his short arms around my neck, rests his head on my shoulder, and goes, “Mmmmm.” He makes this noise over and over, like I am a warm bath, or a piece of candy, or maybe just a song with which he is harmonizing. Then the other boys crowd around, stepping on my toes, snuggling up close, grabbing hold like I am the tree of life. They have this completely backwards, because it is they who are life, but when this happens I wonder how heaven can be any better.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Feeling like I need to put other's feelings above my own.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Self-centeredness. In some ways, because I wish I was more self-centered. Those people get shit done.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Eating out way too much and buying beyond our means.

What is your current state of mind?

Tired. Energized for the upcoming break. Anxious. Fat.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

They're all really good (that's why they're virtues), but probably "obedience." I'm all about balance. It's not good to always be the leader. It's not good to always be lead. Sometimes, its good to just do your own thing.

On what occasion do you lie?

When I open my mouth. Is this a lie? Wouldn't you like to know?

What do you dislike about your appearance?

Not so much an appearance, but I generally dislike my voice. Why do I have to have the high pitched McKibben voice?

What is the quality you most like in a man?

I find most men to be boring, which might help explain the groups I was involved in during college. The best male friends were the ones who are interesting and have varied tastes in things, ranging from sports to music to movies to books to etc.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

To not be the stereotype. Like the things I look for in my male friends, I prefer women to have varied interests.

Which living person do you most admire?

Stephen King. Not only is he insanely talented, but he's living the life I'd like to live.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Substituting "this/the shit" into sentences that don't need. For example, "this shit tastes good."

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

A and P. I love Anya, but as we say to one another; "if you're burning alive in a house and I can only save you or the baby, you're a fried mutha f*cka."

When and where were you happiest?

Excluding the obvious family answers, there were some really great times in the Marines.

Which talent would you most like to have?

To be a great guitar and piano player.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I'd take more time for myself. I'll do a great job of it but then will lose it for weeks on end.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Everything I did as a trombone player: from being in the best high school band program in the country to being a United States Marine and traveling all over the country and world.

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?

I think we're constantly reborn as ourselves and we get to live our lives over and over again.

Where would you like to live?

Naboo. Apparently, their monarchs are major hotties and you get to roll around in the grass with them.

What is your most treasured possession?

My iPhone. Also, Mr. Fox.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

The days immediately after my father passed away.

What is your most marked characteristic?

My McKibben stubbornness and hot-headedness.

Who are your favorite writers?

Stephen King, JRR Tolkien, Alan Moore, David Eddings (many more but that's a good start)

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?

Changes often, but currently is Batman. "The Dark Knight" really took him to a new level. You could spend hours discussing that character and everything that he tries to accomplish.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Abraham Lincoln. He's been on the mind a lot recently.

Who are you heroes in real life?

Excluding the obvious family answers, anyone who strives to make the world a better place. Have you ever noticed that those who try to make the world a better place end up making the least amount of money?

What is your greatest regret?

I had the chance to see the Great Wall and Beijing and missed it. ... for no good reason other than apathy.

How would you like to die?

A mid-air airplane collision would set fire to my body, causing me to unbuckle my seat and jump out the gaping hole of the plane. As my charred body left a smoke trail behind me, I'd plummet towards the earth below. I'd thend crash through a boat carrying shards of broken glass and would drown on the ocean floor below. That death would really suck. But if there is an afterlife, you'd have a pretty awesome story.

What is your motto?

There is no spoon.
