Exhibit A: Ivan Ljubicic winning his first Masters shield a couple hours ago. The Masters are the most prestigious tournaments for professional male players outside of the four Grand Slams and the year-end finals. Ljubicic was born in 1979; among singles players, 31's considered wayyyy over the hill. For comparison, Safin retired last year at age 30, and the players Ljubicic beat at Indian Wells were Ryan Harrison (age 17), Brian Dabul (age 26), Novak Djokovic (age 22, and world #2), Juan Monaco (age 25), Rafael Nadal (age 23, and world #3 until tomorrow), and Andy Roddick (age 27, and world #8).

Exhibit B: Newton Marshall became the first Jamaican and Carribean musher to finish the Iditarod. (He placed 47th; 71 teams started, 58 finished.)

Exhibit C: Celeste Davis finished the race in 13 days, 5 hours, 6 minutes, and 40 seconds ... making her the fastest last-place finisher in the Iditarod's history. (Typing that sentence is making me grin from ear to ear, and I just heard a snort over my shoulder.)
