[The subject line is from Dorothee Lang's poem about hope]

Item: I think I'm three cups of coffee away from being done with the Big Manuscript that's dominated my life the past three weeks

Item: My poem "The Wailing Well" (audio ) will be in the 2011 Dwarf Stars anthology.

Item: 7x20 will be posting two hockey poems by me this week, on the 17th and the 21st.

Item: I really like Dorothee Lang's recent posts at Beyond 100 Days (trans/form, different ways of looking at the same words, hope)

Item: An orchid and vanilla ice cream sandwich = perfect host gift for one of my favorite octogenarians. (The sandwich was approximately the size of an 8 oz. cream cheese tub. H cheerfully stated, "I've never met an ice cream sandwich I couldn't handle," and proceeded to prove it.)

Item: "The desire to travel is born with us along with the craving for ice-cream sodas and fur coats. In some of us the inclination to wander is so strong we give up sodas and fur coats to journey to far places. Fifty weeks or eleven months of work are made easier by knowing that during our vacations we shall go places and see things." - Florence Teets, She's Going Abroad (New York: Ives Washburn, 1953)
