Sometimes the world Blurs together...

It took most of the day to get to this point, but I finally got cooking on my latest chapter in the Wannoshay novel. I got inspired while I was cutting lawn today, and figured out how to work my way into the scene. I think I was feeling overwhelmed at the huge things about to happen -- the aliens are arriving soon, turning the world into disarray, and I'm worried about how I'll be able to handle all the action and info.

But I found the secret, from reading James Morrow -- stick to the characters. Let THEM experience the huge occurences in their own way, and then you don't have to give detailed info about the actual events other than the basics. At least that's what my plan is to do...

Today was a weird day. I was tired all morning, and tried to do some reading, and kept falling asleep, as usual. I did read some cool stuff in LCRW, and thought about what stories I could send them. I even polished off an old chestnut I wrote back in '96, "The Death Sentence," that I may send out somewhere. I kinda like it now.

I hope to run into Kelly Link and Gavin Grant at the upcoming Trinoc-con that starts tomorrow. It's a small con, so it should be good for meeting people and doing some networking.

I'm still not sure what I'm gonna read at my 10 p.m. reading, but I may read the current chapter I'm working on -- it has a good conclusion, and some great dialogue with Joshua and Shermie, the president and CEO of Macy, Nebraska. I may read the zombie story after all... Later!

Today's Quote:
Shermie grunted in agreement and took off his glasses. Under his dark brown eyes were dark circles like bruises, but his eyes were still intense at this late hour.

"Father," he said. "What were you doing when the first ships started coming down?"
