Forehead on keyboard, full steam ahead!

Okay, I'm falling asleep here at work, trying to finish up this chapter of the manual I'm helping to write, and I just caught myself before I did a header into my monitor, so I figured I'd do a quick journal entry and see if that didn't get me woken up. Couldn't hurt, right?

The long hours of the past 3 1/2 weeks have finally caught up to me. I figure I've been doing about 40 hours at the contract job, about 25 hours on the paper route, and 3 hours teaching plus about 5-6 hours prepping for the class. That's about 72-75 hours a week! Ouch.

But this project is winding down, and I'm looking for new work so I can get rid of the paper route -- folding the papers is killing my hands and wrists. And the sleep deprivation ain't that fun either...

But tonight I'm vowing to sit for an hour and fix that damn first chapter of the romance novel, and maybe do some new words on chapter 2. I'm falling behind already on the NaNo challenge, though I'm at last almost all caught up on everything else.

And at some point I wouldn't mind hanging out with my wife and just relaxing again. Maybe even watch a movie, just for fun! This weekend will be nice -- my old college bud Cathi is coming out with her hubby Paul to hang out with us for the weekend, so we'll get out and about, do some hiking, go to some drag bingo (don't ask!), see the sights of Raleigh, and get some perspective from all this work.

One of these days I'm gonna write an entry entitled "Why I Work This Hard." I've already started drafting it in my head. It's a loooong story. Later!

Now Playing:
Silence -- my crappy computer in the office has NO sound card!

Now Reading:
stories by Jason, Drew, and Sarah, and maybe The Book of More Flesh -- zombie stories!

Today's Words:
None. So far...
