Another boring entry...

Nothing major to report here today, other than a lot of work on some stories and some solid work on the Blackbeard novel. Did some revising on a story and sent it back to an editor after chopping 700 words from it and really tightening the beginning. Also sent out a couple more stories -- banner day today: THREE rejections! Ow ow ow ow.

Still looking for a place to send "Remainders," my far-future action story about alien space marines. Got any suggestions? It's been to Asimov's, Analog, F&SF, and Absolute Magnitude. I've got stories out right now to Strange Horizons, 3SF, and Sci Fiction, and the story's a bit too long for them anyway, at 7500 words. Maybe I'll take another look at it and see if it needs some work.

Three rejections today. Ow.

I went over to Chapel Hill today with Elizabeth and went to Caribou Coffee while she was at her classes this morning. That was fun -- I've gotten a good dose of cabin fever this past week. I never thought it would happen, but I think I'm getting a little tired of this Working from Home thing...

Did I mention that I got rejected three times today? And there's still 4 more hours left in the day!

And finally, I'm really working on cutting down on the ol' web-surfing and jacking up my reading time, off-line. My eyeballs are tired, as are my wrists and arms. Luckily Lizzie and I have been getting to the gym fairly regularly this year, and that helps with the tendonitis in my arms a lot. And hey, I've dropped 12 pounds so far this month (easy to do when you've got some extra cushioning). Now if I can just make it through Super Bowl Sunday without diving into a bowl of chicken wings... Later!

Now Playing:
"Global Underground", John Digweed

Now Reading:
Forests of the Heart, Charles de Lint (though I've been eyeing my unread Tim Powers books a lot lately...)

Stories out to Publishers:
19

Today's Words:
1,700 (minus 700 from a story edit)

Words for '03:
18,800 (and no, I'm not subtracting those 700 either!)

Today's Quote:
“My imagination,” she murmured, glancing at Mitch as he shifted and groaned next to her. She was shaking too hard to reach out and try to wake him. All Ella could think about was how, just before the strange boy had slipped away, she felt tiny fingers on her arm. The same arm which was now sporting four long tears in the fabric of her diving suit.
