They took the words right outta my mouth...

Well, I'd planned on writing an entry about how much great writing I'd gotten done last night at a coffee shop while Elizabeth was at her pottery class, how I wrote another 2,500 words on the superhero story, leaving only two or three scenes left to be written, but then I got home and checked email and was bowled over.

I'd already had a nice time reading my friend Heather's story "Famishing" up at Strange Horizons, really digging the new ending she'd added to it since WorldCon. It's her first professional sale, but you wouldn't know it -- it's quite moving and amazingly well-written. Go read it and comment on it -- us authors long for such feedback!

But there's more. I also had a string of emails from Mary Anne, editor-in-chief of Strange Horizons who's been reading my Wannoshay novel for me, and she had some excellent, excellent feedback. And fortunately, none of it will be too difficult to fix. Whew.

And yet even more. Heather's fiancee, Tim, has made the final ballot of the Nebulas, for his wondrous story "Little Gods." You owe it to yourself to read this magical story. Tim truly deserves this acclaim -- he works very hard, and he improves with each story and novel, and he really nailed everything in this story, including the beautiful ending. Check it out!

And yet again, Strange Horizons is right there in the middle of it all. Man, I'm proud of all my fellow writers and editors and everyone else affiliated with that magazine.

Today's Quote:
Daisy and Violet were less than ten feet away from the Needle when two gray shadows swooped down on them from the trees above them. They both disappeared under the long, wing-like jackets of the missing pair of pale boys.

And that was when things went completely topsy-turvy for me.
