I've gotta stop getting up at 3 a.m.!!!

For whatever reason, probably from the big-ass meal I shared with Elizabeth last night at oh-so-trendy 518, a restaurant in downtown Raleigh last night, where we were celebrating our mutual good days, I woke up at 3:25 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep.

So, being the energetic fella I am, I rolled out of bed and got to work. I was planning on finishing my superhero story last night, but didn't get 'round to it, so I went through the first 20 pages or so, editing and making notes as I went. I've been on a bit of an editing kick lately, as I went through the story Tim and I were working on yesterday and got that one into good shape as well, sending it on to him for final approval.

So I fixed up the first 5-6 scenes, wrote a new one, and I'm only about 2 scenes away from being done. Very cool.

I'm worried now that I'm gonna hit the wall around 2 p.m. this afternoon. Luckily, I brough 2 20-oz. Diet Cokes to get me through. Then my writers' group meets, and then I can crash.

All this busy-ness is going to come to an end this weekend, as I finish up all my miscellaneous projects at last(!) so I can focus entirely on finishing the Blackbeard novel, which has gotten back-burnered for close to 4 months now (it was supposed to be my November NaNoWriMo book!).

And I'm trying to find a good home for all of us "Amorphous Blobs"/"Next Wavers"/"Soft Slipstreamers"/[Your Term Here] so we can all go and chat and not have to hop around from one journal or blog to another. Any ideas? (I'd like to be able to include all the past discussions somehow, at least with links, if not the actual text). Hmmm...

Today's Quote:
When I got to my feet again, I was surrounded by tree branches, tree roots, chunks of grass, vines, and an orange carrot the size of my forearm. And they were all growing out my best friend, Daisy.

She gave me a sheepish look, standing there with all sorts of plant life growing from her hands. I saw all five vampire boys hanging from the limbs of the tree that grew out of the fingers of her left hand. Pointed at the chests of each of the vampire boys was a wooden stake formed from Daisy’s tree limb.

“I guess I found my super-power,” Daisy said.
