Prepare for... Ludicrous Speed!

Okay, this entry is mostly for me, to psyche myself up for a busy couple of weeks.

Feel free to read along and throw things if you like. Preferably words of encouragement, but dollar bills or even coins work too.

I've got a whole bunch of fiction-related projects I want to wrap up, really soon. I'm not a good multi-tasker when it comes to writing -- I'm more of a head-down plodder. It may take me a while, but I'll get it done. Just don't distract me.

So I'm prepared for the October Novel Dare, I need to finish up work on my SF novel. But before I can really focus on that, I need to:
  1. Print 150 copies of my small-press antho INTRACITIES. Thanks to the wonderful layout help of John Teehan, I should be able to send this off tomorrow, so I could have copies of the 'zine/antho in my hot little hands by the weekend!
  2. Finish the collaborative story I've started with Jay Lake. This story has been a lot of fun so far, and I want to work on it more. I have a chunk to write tonight or tomorrow a.m. before tossing it back to Jay. I'd love to get it done by the weekend, and everyone knows Jay Lake writes faster than the wind (so I'm the one slowing things down!).
  3. Also this week I want to draft out a short-short, 500 word-vignette for the super-cool 87 CABINETS project. It's not my turn to submit anything to them yet, but I want to have something written, just in case.
  4. Write a short-short story that can work as part of or all of the opening chapter to my Young Adult SF novel, SCRAGS. The plan is to submit this, to a publisher to be named later, in a week or so. At some point I'll need to come up with an outline for this book, as this is the novel I'll be drafting during the October Dare.
Once I get those things done, hopefully by the end of this weekend, I can focus solely on completing the SF novel. Then I just need to revise the opening three chapters to my paranormal romance featuring Blackbeard, HEART'S REVENGE so I can send it out to agents/editors. If I have time.

So, it's time to kick things up a notch, and enter ludicrous speed. And I have some writing to do, so I'd better get cracking. Later!
