A man, a computer, a coffee maker, and two scenes left to rewrite

Okay, it's about that time. I've got the whole day to work on the novel revision, and I'm planning on finishing the rewriting of the 2 scenes I have left to rework. I'm not leaving this computer until it's done.

Or until Elizabeth gets home from work around 5 or so to drag me away.

I'll keep ya posted here as the day progresses.

Wish me luck...

First Update: 9:21 a.m.

600 words written, still reworking chapters leading up to two unfinished scenes, doing continuity stuff and advancing subplots. On third mug of coffee, Pearl Jam on the CD Player. Later!

Second Update: 10:55 a.m.

300 more words, probably cut twice that number. Just finished revising the last few scenes leading up to the two new scenes. It's slow-going, but worthwhile. Lots of cleanup to do in some places... Need to make another pot of coffee and grab another live Pearl Jam CD set from the pile.

Third update: 12:08 p.m.

300 words, and I'm starting to fade. Need... caffeine... One scene left, though!

Fourth update: 1:53 p.m.

500 more words, and I've got the skeleton of that last scene in place and... I just cannae do it, cap'n! My brain's fried. I'm talking the dog for a long walk and then I'll try and come back to it with a fresh brain. Well, as fresh as my brain gets. Five mugs of coffee appears to be my daily limit.

Final update: 4:40 p.m.

Okay, the walk with the dog was nice -- about an hour and a half through the woods used by the Army Corps of Engineers. He's passed out behind me now. And I'm done for the day. Here's the results:

Today's Words:
1,700

Yesterday's Words:
300

Words for 2003:
156,000

Now Playing:
"The Very Best of Crowded House"

Today's Quote:
With some effort, Skin stuffed the bandages into his back pocket and looked one last time at the mother ship. Most of the aliens were working inside the ship now, including the Elders and Awoyana. At least, he hoped his Wannoshay friend survived the night. He didn't know what role Awoyana may have played in the terrorist acts, but at this point it no longer mattered to him. What mattered most to Skin was the fact that he could see humans and aliens working together all around the mother ship.

And maybe someday soon, Skin thought, the soldiers won't be needed here anymore.
