That's interesting...

Well, okay, so maybe I jumped the gun on putting my novel The Wannoshay Cycle back in the trunk. (I also messed up and instead of editing my entry about the novel I'd made a week ago, I deleted it!) An agent I'd queried back in November emailed me today and wants to read the whole thing.

So... after spending all of my last morning before the Day Job begins copy-editing my fantasy novel at Cup-A-Joe's before my orientation for the Day Job tomorrow, I just spent the past 2.5 hours whacking away at the SF novel, getting it into proper shape.

And I'll be damned if it's coming together quite nicely. The secret? Get rid of whole chapters! I went from 35 to 28 chapters, I don't introduce Skin, one of the main characters, until the middle section (and I think it works better that way), and the first section is no long so damn slow and top-heavy.

Having done a ton of revising in the past two weeks, it helps having some sort of game plan, I realize. I made of list of what I wanted to do -- shorten the earlier chapters, get the first three chapter under fifty pages, don't have too many Point-of-View characters, fix awkward sentences, etcetera. And it's working so far, knock wood.

I hope to get the whole novel in the mail by next Monday at the latest. Shipping it will be a bit cheaper than it would've been before tonight -- I chopped out about 75 pages already! Later.
